After teaching high school math for two years, he began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in 1993. In March 2016 Brad became the Director of the Heartland Regional Field Office covering Illinois and Missouri. He had two early career stints with NASS in the Kentucky and Iowa field offices. Prior to taking over as Director of the Heartland Region, Brad spent 15 years in Washington, DC, with the last five as Chief of Staff. Brad also currently serves in the United States Army Reserve. His career began as a Private in 1987 with the Missouri Army National Guard and he is currently a Colonel assigned as an Operations Officer for the Training and Doctrine Command. In 2005 then Captain Summa deployed to Iraq and spent a year on a Military Transition Team in the Northwest region of the country.
Actively serves as a member of Dayspring Baptist Church in St. Louis
Member and volunteer for the Northwest Missouri State University St. Louis Alumni Chapter
